Corky McMillin started his business in San Diego, CA in 1960 as a remodeling and custom-home builder. Over the next 50 years, Corky, with the help of sons Mark and Scott, grew the company into a fully integrated real estate company, including land development, home building and real estate services. The Corky McMillin Companies has built 16 mixed-use master-planned communities, nearly 30,000 residences, more than 20 community parks, thousands of miles of new roads, schools, shopping centers, commercial office and industrial parks, college dormitories, and 2,000 military residences on seven bases. President and CEO of The Corky McMillin Companies, Mark McMillin, a third generation homebuilder, joined the McMillin organization in 1979, the same year he graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. The Corky McMillin Companies was founded by Mark’s late father Corky McMillin in 1960 and is now led by Mark and his brother Scott McMillin, Chairman of the Board.
Mark is considered one of California’s most prominent leaders within the real estate industry. He served as a past president of the Building Industry Association of San Diego County and has served on the association’s Board of Directors. Mark has been very active in community affairs where McMillin does business. He has been a longtime member of the Board of Directors of United Cerebral Palsy Association of San Diego and also serves on the Board of Directors of The Campanile Foundation at San Diego State University. He recently spear-headed a fund-raising campaign to benefit The Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate founded in 2004 with a $1.5 million endowment from the McMillin family.
